The Raízes Project is a deeply personal and cultural journey for Fábio Gomes. He wants to gain a deeper understanding of Angola’s provinces. Driven by curiosity and a desire to reconnect with his own roots, Fábio and his team travel from province to province, exploring the richness of Angolan culture, Angolan cuisine, and Angolan traditions.
Together, we document every step Fábio Gomes takes, every encounter he has, to share the soul of Angola with the world.
The Raízes Project does not belong only to Fábio Gomes — it belongs to all Angolans.
Arriving in Cabinda, a new province to discover, with so much to experience in just a few days. My first day took me through the city centre, where the rhythm of everyday life unfolds through local markets, vendors, and the people who bring the streets to life.
In the days that followed, we were welcomed with incredible local food, traditional dances, and genuine hospitality. The heat was intense, but it was always made easier by the warmth of the people who welcomed us and showed us the beauty of Cabinda.
